Click

Click was excellent. Two great movies at the Drive-In this weekend. Click takes Adam Sandler on a rollercoaster of emotions, from speeding through arguements, family dinners, job fiascos and eventually... he learns a few things about himself and the path he is on, that will set his and his families life down roads no one wishes to travel. Again... my kids watched this one with me and one of the most heart wrenching scenes even touches the heart of my son. Amazing work and if you like Jim Carrey in Truman Show... Sandler does that in Click. . .emotion from the heart in several scenes. . .though I'll admit... his crying needs some work. ;)

Monster House

Monster House...

This movie was great. I enjoyed it. The house is possessed by someone... or something... you'll have to watch and find out, but I'll let my kids' reaction to it be my review. My son is seven. The first 20 minutes he spent hiding under the dashboard of the van and on occasion would pop up just enough so his eyes could see the movie. (Drive-In theatre in my area)... He eventually made it back to the seat, where he teetered between curled up and scared to watching it openingly.

He voiced concern that he'd have a nightmare and I told him... he'd be okay, we were watching the second movie which wouldn't be scary and he'd forget about how frightened he was with Monster House... it worked. Also what set his mind at ease was reminding him he had seen the commercials for many of scariest parts of the movie. The "frights" start fast. My eldest, age 12, enjoyed it too, but she often analyzes movies as they flow, once she decided she wasn't going to "freak" out, she settled and enjoyed it as did the middle child, age 11.

I doubt I'll purchase this movie, but I am glad I watched it. It ha a Tim Burton feel, but it is done by Steven Spielberg and another person.

Nacho Libre

Nacho Libre. See the picture on the left? That is the best part about this movie. The scenery behind the man in tights. Hell a still shot of the man in tights Jack Black is better than the movie. The dirt in the picture that the actor is standing on is better than the movie. . .

Okay. I know this wasn't supposed to be a good movie. I mean come on. It has Jack Black in it. It is the story of a Monk that wants to be a wrestler. I started watching it. I really had every intention of watching it. I really did. What I did watch put me to sleep, thus the end of my review.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Hmm. . . Did I like this movie? Yes, a little. Will I buy it? Yes after it has been out for a few years and goes on sale. Was I satisfied with it and recommend it to others . . .hmm. . .yes, but. . .<<< You knew that was coming didn't you.

I liked the acting. I thought it was well done. Johnny Depp comes back and plays Jack Sparrow again, just as seductive, naughty, crooked and smart ass, as he had last time.

The pirates are smarter than the Captain, just like before, but they are smart enough to let Depp upstage them, which is their job.

Davy Jones. . .ewwww. . .everything about him and his crew is yucky, but that is the way of the story. Right.

What didn't I like? The scene where Jack is thought to be a "God" ????? Maybe I was asleep or something, because that just kinda happened. One moment they were on the ship, next they are on an island, captured, men in cages, Jack a God, that is going to be eaten. . .I was like huh??? Did I disappear for a minute? My head buried in the sand??? So maybe I missed how they got to the island. I don't think so. I mean. . .I was at the drive-in and I never got out of the van. . . but maybe I was teleported during the time they made it to the island of Cannibals.

Any whooooo... the scene where Jack runs away from the natives. OMG . . it is so stupid. I don't remember if I laughed or not. I think I chuckled during the beginning of it, and then it got more silly, I just wanted the scene to end.

Everything seems rushed. They don't take the time to explain things. One minute you are here, the next your there. If you blink you'll miss where you were a minute ago and wonder where your map is so you can follow the sea. There is a guy in the movie painting a map. . .maybe we were supposed to read it, while watching the movie???

The end. . . OMG . . . I don't even want to tell you how I couldn't believe how they ended this flick. A sequeal??? Yes, we'll need one, but the way they filmed it, we'll have everyone back and happy in one minute and wonder how they got there the next.
