X-Men III

I heard this movie had no plot, but was all action. I grossly DISAGREE! I enjoyed the film and heck yea, there is action!

X-Men III. I think there was more action in this film than in any I have ever seen. There is a lot of death and a loss of some very important players... or is there. WATCH this FILM.

BTW... Stay in your seats and watch the end of the credits or you'll miss some important information in the end. . .grrr..... I hate missing the important stuff!

Poseidon

Poseidon... A great film. Rating 5.

There is action within 10 min. if even that long. They take a quick run through the characters and let you quickly see them as well rounded folks with their own sets of quirks and problems and then WHAM the action starts and doesn't stop. You don't know who will live or die out of this group... Amazing work in my opinion and I loved it.

I watched that and thought... I never would have lived through something like this. One ... I can't swim underwater at all. Two... I can't hold my breath for long... NOW... that is the only thing I found VERY unrealistic, they hold their breath for VERY long times. As a mechanic and gadget man, my husband found a few things unrealistic, but overall I don't think any of that deflects from the film.

The relationship between these characters is wonderful and the bond between and mother and her son... is unshakeable and heartwrenching at times.

RV

This is a funny movie. RV starring Robin Williams will make you laugh and scratch your head wondering if you ever want to attempt to rent an RV and go cross-country. A business man tries to mix business with pleasure and that is a recipe for disaster... especially when you don't tell the wife! (and you cancel a trip to an much BETTER place too!)

I did look over to my husband and say... "I'd still like to do something like that...rent and go cross-country."

This movie pokes fun at not only the business business man, but the RV parks across America and the folks you see there. :-) Rating 4. 5.

I didn't know this... but it is a remake of a film called "Tourist Trap". . .

Over The Hedge

This rates right up there with Ice Age 2. Over the Hedge was excellent! I loved it. My kids loved it. My husband loved it... and the old man sitting two rows behind us... LOVED IT!!!!!! There was so much laughter in the theater I couldn't help but be drawn into this movie just like everyone else. One draw back... hmmm it ended. :-( ;-)

The Raccoon cons the forest creatures into helping him gather food and not just any kind... OUR kind. It is a satire of how we humans are focused on food... and he's right... we are.

Rating a big bold 5!

Mission Impossible 3

Mission Impossible III - I liked. My husband didn't think it was all that special. I thought the "evil" villian could have been played better by a more known actor, but if we didn't see nobodies in something they'd always be nobodies... I enjoyed Tom's performance, but would have liked to see more of the conflict the "fiance" endures, but you don't see any of that, like you did with MI 2. I'd give this one a 3. 5 out of a possible 5. I liked it more than 2, but like I said, it could have been better.

Nanny McPhee

This was a top notch film in my opinion. It is being called the "new" Mary Poppins. It is. It has the same edgie magic, but with the 21st or is that 22nd .. ;-) quality or feel to it. I enjoyed the young actors and actresses and think the story line was excellent. I believe all ages will enjoy this, even those that grew up with the reliable oldie but goodie. My rating for Nanny McPhee a 5 for all ages.

She's The Man

She's The Man Thi is diffinitly for the Nickelodeon Kid and their younger siblings. It is a female teenie bopper movie. It has a young girl who enjoys playing soccer but can't play on her school's team so she disguises herself as her brother and plays for his school. . . then develops a crush on his/her roommate... yes that's a story all in itself.

Rating 1-5 , for ages 11 - 15 - 5; for ages 16 and up a 3.

Failure to Launch

Failure to launch to me was a failure. I think Sarah Jessica Parker needs to stay on TV and not do films. I found this lacking a lot. I felt that there could have been a movie here if the acting was better. I think it says a lot about a movie when the best thing I can remember is the CPR performed on a Mockingbird and I would rather have watched the co-stars act than the actors. It is a story about a man that just can't seem to leave his parents home, even then he behaves like a child when he realizes what is up... but he is over 30 and living at home with mom and dad. It isn't because he's inept, or jobless, or having an emotional crisis... he's lazy. A waste of my time and Matthew's talent and what little Parker has was wasted here too. Rating 1-5 ... 1 (and that's being nice)

Ice Age 2

I can't say enough about this movie. Ice Age 2 was a blast. I loved every minute of it and so did my kids. It was full of laughter, scarcasm and that nutty squirrel thing... :-D If you have to see an animated movie with your kids, heck if you have to "rent" a kid as an excuse to see an animated movie... Make it this one. You have to!!

If You have never seen the first one! Do it!! Ice Age 1 was just as much fun as the sequeal is.

From the opening with Scamp to the ending, this is none stop laughter with a touch of romance for the Mammoths. There is danger as prehistoric ocean fish stalk the herd and if you never thought a Mammoth could hang suspended from a tree by its tail - - YOU are WRONG!!

The Wild

The Wild - I watched this back in April and I was disappointed with it. It is cute, but not cute enough for the price I paid at the Matinee. I was disappointed in it really. The animation is great, but nowadays if animation isn't top notch there has to be some really good explanation for it even being allowed on the movie screen.

There was so much potential for this story. I thought the young cub could have done so much in the city. To me that was the wild... for him. Then when they arrive at "the wild" it just gets more lame and pathetic, not to mention silly and not in a good way.

On a 1 to 5 rating... I'd say for ages 2-7 (5), ages 7 and up 2 (and that is being generous).

Who am I?

My name is Dee and you are more than welcome to call me that as well as Red or RHF. I write Erotica as a hobby right now, but hope one day to make it a profession or at least make a little $$ from it, but it isn't necessary. I will keep writing whether I do or not.

Why a Movie Review Thread? Because I have been watching quite a few lately and have decided I wanted a place to talk about them. I encourage comments and opinions on these reviews and hope perhaps one day I'll see them. I will post some from my Essence of Red Blog and then the new ones from this weekends Movie extravaganza I was on.

In the meantime there is a bit about me in my profile.
